Gain hands-on experience from business industry leaders from some of the most successful organizations in central Indiana.

Explore a career in business

Business career exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women ages 14 to 20 who have an interest in the many functional areas of business, including sales/marketing, operations, finance/accounting, customer service, human resources and information technology.

You will network with business professionals who work in these careers every day. These individuals work at some of the largest companies and organizations in the United States. They know how to leverage the latest technology to succeed. They also know what it takes to get into college for their specific career. As part of this program, you’ll learn about the educational requirements for a career in business and will receive useful advice on steps you could take now to prepare and position yourself for a successful career.

Eli Lilly & Co. (Business & Accounting) – Post #642

This program provides insight into general business concepts from accounting and marketing to interview skills and investing. We utilize multiple presenters with various backgrounds throughout the program, so each session comes with a unique tone and perspective on business. Additionally, the presenters are often young professionals who have recently completed their college education and are not too far removed from the college career exploration and selection process.

The post meets October through May at Lilly Corporate Center, usually the third Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and we offer a year-end job shadow opportunity as well.

Our meetings initially focus on the following areas of exploration: legal, finance, sales and IT. As we continue to learn about the careers most of interest to students, we may add additional areas of exploration. Each meeting offers the opportunity to hear from an individual within an area of the business. The individual will share their career journey and provide insights on skills that allow them to be successful in their roles.
