Shooters aim to support Boy Scouts
Indianapolis, Sept. 12, 2008—Novice and experienced sporting clay shooters are invited to attend the ninth annual Shooting Stars - Sporting Clays Tournament, sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America, Crossroads of America Council, on Friday, Sept. 19 at Crooked Creek Conservation and Gun Club in Noblesville.
Several professional shooters will be on-hand at the event, including Marty Fischer, one of America’s best-known outdoor personalities. Fischer can be seen on national cable television by millions of outdoor enthusiasts as host of “Shotgun Journal,” a highly acclaimed series on ESPN.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m., with lunch served from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Loaner guns will be available and an awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the tournament.
Proceeds from the 100-target event will help provide Scouting’s values-based programs to at-risk youth in central Indiana will send youth to summer camp and will help cover the costs of uniforms, handbooks and camping gear for boys who need financial aid.
Crossroads of America Council is a United Way agency, annually serving more than 33,000 youth and 10,000 adult leaders in 25 central Indiana counties. The Boy Scouts continue to be the nation’s leader in youth development programs that focus on values, physical fitness and citizenship.
