COPE and Climbing
Project COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) is a unique experience for older Scouts (age 14 and older) focused on developing leadership, self-esteem, decision making, communication, teamwork, trust, planning and problem solving skills. The main focus of COPE is learning through play. The Indiana Gas COPE Course at Ransburg Scout Reservation includes initiative games, 19 low-course elements and 9 high-course elements concluding with a 300-foot zipline.
Climbing helps introduce youth to a popular world-wide sport and reinforces skills such as teamwork, self-esteem and trust. The David H. Williams Climbing Tower includes initiative games, three different climbing sides, a rappelling side, chimney climbing, free rappelling and a bouldering wall.
Crossroads of America Council schedules seven Saturdays a year when instructors are available to run activities at the COPE Course and Climbing Tower at Ransburg Scout Reservation. Units may reserve their space to participate online.
